Hello there!
I am Anna and I’ve been making patterns ever since the first day of primary school, where I held a chequered notebook in my hands. Since earliest childhood I can’t stop to draw, paint, etch, scan, print, stitch, sellotape, mould, sculpt and design on any type of paper, textiles, packaging, surfaces, in books, in magazines, in nature using anything from crayons, markers, watercolours to masking tape… and my absolute favourite – glitter.
Meanwhile I also did some other things. I started freelancing as a designer more than 10 years ago. I studied at 3 different art schools in 3 different programmes. I founded a creative studio and co-working space called Studio Blinkblink. I print with a risograph. I run several blogs. I did social media campaigns. Events. Workshops. Travel. Trend research. – Let’s say that by now I am an entrepreneur.
But patterns are my life. They are my trusty companions. They just bubble out of me, like water trickling endlessly from a fountain. For me, the process of creating a pattern is a (spi)ritual experience.
Patterns have an entrancing quality, which even the famous psychologist Carl Gustav Jung studied at length. They are archetypes of our psyche and thus can tell us more about our place in the cosmos than mere words can.
So it happened that over the years I created a large archive of patterns and as I don’t want them to be left alone in my drawers I decided to share them with the world, with creative entrepreneurs and small businesses like yours and mine.
That’s when the idea for Monster Patterns was born. I want to help the ‚man-made‘ world become a more colourful place and with this website I hope to reach like-minded folks to join the pattern, print & color club! I created this easy-to-use online shop with easy-to-understand, affordable pattern licenses for you to buy for your specific business needs.
